Butch Walker is eagerly awaiting the release of his new CD Afraid of Ghosts, out on the Dangerbirds Record label in early February 2015. The album was produced by Ryan Adams, the Grammy nominated singer and songwriter who toured with Butch in the fall of 2014.
"I'm a musician with a motorcycle problem," Butch Walker is fond of joking. He has a passion for motorcycles, especially old vintage Harley Davidsons. He is a member of the Venice Vintage Motorcycle Club, and of the Lucky Riders motorcycle club, which is a group of guys he hangs with and takes annual trips with all over the country. Members of the Lucky Riders include Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, and Mike Wolfe from the TV show, "American Pickers."
One of the destinations they have camped out at is the wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum in Boone, N.C. The owner, Dale, gave them private tours of his collection, ranging from every era of motorcycle history, and ALL of them run! They might consider a trip to the Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It's a 75-million dollar complex that opened in 2009 that has about 140 classic Harley Davidson motorcycles on display, from a collection of about 450 bikes.
Butch Walker and the Lucky Riders are especially fond of Harleys from the 1930s through the 1950s, and that interest will be rewarded when they see the 1956 KH model that was once owned by Elvis Presley. The King bought it just before the release of his classic "Heartbreak Hotel." In addition to the bike, the museum has the original sale documentation that goes with it.
Butch Walker friend, Mike Wolfe, also has an incredible rare old motorcycle collection of bikes ranging from old Excelsiors, Indians, and a rare Vincent “Vin Knuckle” hybrid Harley bike.
